Dog Days
It’s hot. It’s humid. I’m sweating. It’s summer, if not officially, then everything but “officially.” We keep having then killing then having then killing ants. Someone yelled “fuck you!” at me on the street. The daylight is so long and the nights are too quick. Sometimes when I’m working in the kitchen (as I am now) I’ll see the power lines out the window start to tremble and then a squirrel will come dashing across.
Issues of Fran Magazine intended for paid subscribers usually refer to some piece of older pop culture, but I’ll be honest and say that everything I’m interested in right now is new: Elif Batuman’s sequel to The Idiot called Either/Or, Terence Davies’ film Benediction, the latest season of Barry.
