This is the Fran Magazine Sunday Dispatch, a weekly culture diary for paid subscribers only. The Sunday Dispatch details what I’ve been watching, reading, playing, and listening to over the past week. Paid subscriptions help stabilize my career in culture writing full-time, but all readers — paid & not — are appreciated. Feel free to follow me on Instagram or Letterboxd (for free!). Thanks for reading!

Last Sunday, I was at the Rio Grande Gorge and this Sunday, I am back home in New York.
I have a few pieces out this week that you can read, namely a list of the foods in Challengers (I love being paid American money to be a writer) alongside this past week’s magazine about the film and then response to it from certain online communities. I also wrote a profile of directors Alexis Bloom and Svetlana Zill for Cultured Mag; the two of them have a new documentary out this weekend in New York (and maybe also LA?) about actress and model and Rolling Stones muse Anita Pallenberg. Beyond all that, I also wrote up a huge flowchart and comprehensive guide to this summer’s myriad pop albums for Vulture, which I believe will be in print in New York Magazine starting tomorrow.
