Fran Magazine: Sunday Dispatch, Sept. 24-30
The Tree of Life, more NYFF, I started a new Assassin's Creed game, plus the RAIN
This is the Fran Magazine Sunday Dispatch, a weekly culture diary by Fran Hoepfner, who is me. The Sunday Dispatch details what I’m watching, reading, playing, and listening to — topics that may otherwise go undiscussed in the Wednesday posts. The Sunday Dispatch is only for paid subscribers. Thank you for reading!
This shit silly
I will continue to get the COVID boosters the way I also always get a flu show but I fucking hate getting the COVID booster. On Friday, it famously rained too much in New York City — not to be confused with the entire week where it rained that ended like three days before — and I had wet socks for all of twelve hours. After seeing the Haynes <3 and the Lanthimos, I schlepped over to Walgreens to get my COVID booster which subsequently knocked me on my ass. Mild fever, headache, aches, whatever. At the time of writing on Saturday night, I am still only half-rallied, a Diet Coke proving better medicine than Tylenol, and looking forward to going to bed despite four naps. I loved not having plans while feeling this bad.
Beyond that, the week was otherwise busy and booked. I fasted for Yom Kippur which was an exercise in tolerating 45 minutes of a Bertrand Bonello film after 25 hours of not eating. I love the High Holy Days but am also always happy when they’re over. I’m going to be doing a bit of blogging over at Vulture on celeb stuff which means I’ll soon be Kaught Up with the Kardashians among others. What does that mean for Fran Magazine? Not much. Things will proceed here as normal, though I’ll skip the Sunday Dispatch next week on account of attending back-to-back weddings. Love is in the air! Which is so much better than the rain.
