Seasonal difficulties
Our mice are back. We had two and a half good months without them, but now I occasionally hear the scratching in back of our stove or behind the cabinets, or find evidence of their misbehavior over night. I like mice — in abstract. I understand in a theoretical way how smart rodents are. My brother had roommates with pet rats — these guys were gentle, friendly, well-meaning. I want to root for the mice. I wouldn’t even care that they don’t pay for groceries so long as I didn’t have to know they were there. But I have limits, and in addition to limits, I have mouse stories. Here are three of them.
