i have to second this! i have been gorging on shitty music journalism for the past two weeks and this piece is the high quality i have been longing for, written with a rare style and eye for personal detail.

Existential-Christian-mysticism-coded art criticism is so my jam. This rocks.🥹

Love this band, love this album, love this piece. I felt so emotional the first time I heard "Connect" and the drums "connected" me to the youthful joy i felt when listening to mansard roof for the first time.

You’ve convinced me to listen to this album in full! I’d lost my taste for Ezra over the past several years, definitely from the Tavi of it all, but this band felt like my first and last love of my early twenties. I “discovered” them at the tail end of senior year of college and I already felt too old to be listening to them. I was under the impression that after I graduated college I could no longer seriously listen to indie rock. Not sure why! Anyway Modern Vampires and Hannah Hunt really got me through 2013 and my post grad depression. As I was reading your piece I kept thinking “Walcott don’t you wanna get outta Cape Cod tonight?”
