I think the quality you’re searching to pin down in Widows is that it is Woke Heat. I like Widows too. It’s just Woke Heat.

Also, Charli really needs to get it together.

No Tom Cruise Summer? No Stitch Summer? No Superman Summer? No Jurassic Summer? Not even big shouts to her motherland with 28 Summers Later… totally misunderstanding what summer is about, just like Brat.

I am NOT ALLERGIC TO CATS!!! When I was a kid, many of my friends had cats. But my dream was to have Boston Terriers. Living the dream.

Austerlitz is such a dizzying and wonderful book. Feels immense. I'd like to see the "adaptation" "starring" Denis Lavant at some point.

I've been debating getting a cat when I move to a new city in a few months—Bandit has me leaning toward doing it.

Bandit rocks! That chin looks absolutely primed for some good scratches. Also, welcome to the COLUMBUS party, Brat Nation (they’ve already seen THE SWEET EAST)

bandit!!! what a perfectly sculpted nose…he regards the camera as the sphinx might have regarded the level, sandy plains of giza in ages gone by…

re sinners and ludwig göransson: not sure how i feel about the much-vaunted genre-blending score! seems unsure if it wants to be pulpy and single-minded or multivalent and modernist, though perhaps this is a fault of the movie as a whole…i did love the oner though and how he kept adding planet rock and the triggerman beat (maybe?) and g-funk synths onto the main theme, i’m not made of stone.

i have been listening to divers a lot this week, off a recommendation by the great BDM…great spring album

the oner is fun for sure — the music generally worked for me. I don’t always rock w Göransson but he worked for me here. but that’s my big takeaway on movie itself — just oscillated too dramatically between modes and sometimes a mashup can work and other times I’m not sure what I’m looking at
